Electricity Retrofit Incentive Program

About the Program
Hydro Ottawa is assisting Commercial, Industrial, & Institutional and Agricultural customers to conserve energy in cooperation with the Ontario Power Authority. The Electricity Retrofit Incentive Program provides financial incentives to influence you to undertake projects to improve the energy efficiency of your facilities and improve your bottom line.

The Electricity Retrofit Incentive Program focuses on energy efficient lighting, motors, water heating, ventilation, air conditioning and controls.

Timelines
This is a limited time offer and applications are accepted on a first come, first served basis.

Applications must be received before December 31, 2010
Eligible projects must be completed prior to December 1, 2011

Who Qualifies?
Applicants must be Hydro Ottawa commercial customers.
Applicants may be owners or tenants of business premises supplied by Hydro Ottawa.
Please note that if you are a tenant, you must obtain permission from the property owner for installation of the measures for which an incentive is claimed.

Qualifying Projects
Incentives will be available for projects that result in measurable reductions in electrical peak demand.
These projects may be completed using energy efficient technologies prescribed by the program or may be based on innovative custom initiatives.

Prescriptive Technologies
Incentives are offered for pre-approved technologies on a per unit basis. For additional information about qualifying Prescriptive Technologies see below.

An incentive is available for pre-approved technologies as detailed on the Prescriptive worksheets.

Lighting

Fluorescent lighting systems (T8, T5, CFL)
Metal halide lighting systems
Electronic ballasts for HPS lamps
IR coated halogen lamps
LED display case strips
LED “EXIT” signs
Occupancy sensors

Motors

Three phase premium efficiency motors 1-200 hp

Cooling equipment

Unitary A/C units of any tonnage that are ENERGY STAR qualified or CEE compliant

Custom Projects

All technology, equipment and systems are evaluated on the basis of their electrical demand reduction. The incentives offered are of $400/kW for lighting projects and $800/kW for non-lighting projects. These figures are based specifically on the level of improvement.

Please note that it is imperative that you obtain pre-approval for custom projects from Hydro Ottawa before letting contracts, releasing purchase orders, purchasing equipment or starting work. Unfortunately we have no choice but to deny your application if the project has been started prior to pre-approval of the project.
