Business Customers

Hydro Ottawa Limited serves business customers across all sectors of the local economy.

Small business customers whose demand is less than 50 kW per year have the option of buying the electricity they use through the Regulated Price Plan (RPP), where they are charged a regulated price per kilowatt hour (kWh) for the electricity used. You are automatically part of this plan unless you choose to purchase your electricity from an electricity retailer. These prices are set by the Ontario Energy Board. Other business customers may be eligible if they qualify for "designated consumer" status.

As of May 1, 2010 RPP customers pay 6.5 cents per kWh for the first 750 kWh of electricity they use in a month. The commodity price for electricity usage above the conservation threshold of 750 kWh per month is 7.5 cents per kWh.

Owners and managers of buildings that have multiple residences, but only one meter, have the opportunity to declare this information and extend their ‘conservation threshold’ in order to receive the first tier allowance on each residential unit.

Requests for a new electrical connection or an upgrade to an existing service can simply be submitted online using our Service Request Form. Key information is available on understanding your billpaying your bill, as well as Hydro Ottawa’s Conditions of Service.
